Pembo- NEw Brighton Stages, Action ShotNew Brighton Promenade Stage - Wirral 7th & 8Th September 2012

It has been several years since I have competed in this rally and thought that a return to the closed public roads was overdue. 2001 saw the 30th anniversary of the event and a special ‘one off’ super special stage was organised. This saw two cars start together and complete two laps of the stage. This made it quite entertaining for the spectators and the drivers too. The super special stage was such a success that they decided to run a longer version of it in 2012 on the Friday evening.

The 2012 event was fully subscribed to within 3 weeks with over 110 cars wanting one on the 90 places. Held over 2 days the area welcomed crews and spectators from all over the country to a unique driving challenge of closed public road 100% tarmac rally.

Pembo is rallying his "red arrow" series 3 Coupe quattro at the Promenade Stages - on Friday7th & Saturday 8th September - New Brighton, Wirral.

This is a general invite to anyone who would like to attend to spectate and support him and his 'Red Arrow' S2 at the Promenade Stages which is held on New Brighton Promenade on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th September.

The event will open on the Friday with scrutineering from 12:30 to 16:30 and then 90 cars (running in reverse seeding order!) from 17:30 to 22:00 will compete on the Friday evening in a 'Super Special Stage' format with two cars starting together and running an inner and outer loop with a 'crossover' so both cars complete the same stage and same distance. Well, he's been VERY quiet the last few months;
He's alive and well, and has started work on the rally car again.......

"Just waiting for aluminium flywheel from America, Aluminium front pulley from Canada and clutch from Northants to rebuild the rally car. then its exhaust downpipe and remap. (plenty of power!) The car will have … Ported and polished head with ARP stud and nut conversion and Multi layer steel head gasket, bespoke Piper cams (reprofiled 7A’s), tubular exhaust manifold, ports polished on inlet manifold, bosch green injectors, competition paddle clutch, bigger radiator, bigger oil cooler, competition engine, gearbox and diff mounts. Running 304mm and 4 pots callipers but looking at 330mm and 6 pots. Hydraulic handbrake being fitted this time too. The car has to still have standard K24 turbo with 34mm restrictor and standard intercooler but thinking of fitting some water jets to aid intercooler cooling."

Yikes!

We'll keep you posted.....

Last year he raised over £800 for Marie Curie Cancer Care by rallying his Audi Coupe quattro rally car for Charity. On 19th February he will be doing it all again on the North West Stages rally and hoping for £1000. Please either visit the web site or see Alan to donate and fill the sponsor form in personally.

He has built an online fundraising page if you would like to see it. It's very easy to sponsor - you just click the button and give your credit or debit card details - and you can leave a message too!

To view the page go to: http://www.justgiving.com/rallyquattro

If you pay UK tax, Justgiving will even collect 28% Gift Aid automatically on your donation, so it's even better for the charity.
