From what I've read you can fit any 80 or 90 saloon tailights from the earlier models. The later 'faceshift' models are different, as are the coupes...

It's under the drivers side shelf on my ole 2.2 (E reg) I think. You can certainly hear it clicking away louder than if it was under the bonnet...

Feel the rubber pipes that lead to the H/Core, see if they're hot. If they are, it could quite easily be a cable off. There are 3 or 4 to choose from, I'm not sure which one bypasses the H/matrix...

You cab get breass replacement cogs off of eba, to replace the plastic ones. They are made for 20valves though, so I don't know if the gearing is the same...

Soem ECU's don't have any EPROM (memory) so you have to leave the ignition on, crank it over (not sure how long for) and leave it on. Do a search for 'fault code reader' and you should get a hit or tw ...

Drive joints would make a loud knocking and judder like crazy when you move for/back-wards while the steerings on full lock...

Time to check all the bushes as well. Not forgeting the sub frame...

Perhaps the older (87) models have a wider access in the subframe? It fit on there just perfect when I did mine. The only 'deep' ring spanner I own is a 22mm job for the strut tops...
