Just had a thought; could this problem be linked to my temp sender unit which hardly moves the gauge at all?

My 93 Audi 80 is backfiring slightly on the overrun but only when it's cold. When it's warmed up it seems ok, so does anyone have any ideas on the subject? Thanks in advance.

Mikes2, the engine code is ABK156314, I believe it's 8 valve and it's 1984cc. I appreciate your help with this,

Thanks for the reply; it has a 2litre engine. I have a pal who has a strobe light and he says he needs to know the timing so he can check it. Just wish Haynes did a manual for it; don't feel like payi ...

I recently bought a 1993 80E and then found out there is no Haynes manual for it. Question is can someone tell me the timing settings as I believe it's a tad retarded!
