You can re-set with vag-com, but if you don't trace and clear the fault the light will just come back on again.

It could be due to any number of issues.
In my case it turned out to be the pre-cat lambda sensor.
Fault codes will help a great deal.
You might consider investing in VCDS if they are charging you ...

I'm pretty sure there is no limit but you might get fed up re-setting it.

Just to add, the airbag light will need a reset with VAG-COM after sorting out the problem, as will not just go out.

Could be a number of things, you need to check for fault codes.

My engine management light came on my VW 1.8T because the pre-cat lambda probe had gone faulty.
