My engine is very 'tickey' when idling. I have a 1.8T petrol engine. Sometimes it sounds like a bag of nails. Seems to be ok when revving, it's just on idle.

It's recently had the oil and filter changed.

Is there anything you can do to improve this? I know that you used to have to adjust the Tappets to stop this, but am I right in thinking the A4 has self-adjusting Tappets?

Sorry if I am a bit thick!

Thanks
Steve

If they were out of adjustment then they would tick through the rev range.
Was it ticking before the oil and filter change ? If not then check to see if you have a VAG or MAN filter fitted and also the correct oil. It sounds like low oil pressure related. Evil or Very Mad
