Flooded comfort module for central locking

Hi Guys. I have just purchased a 2000 A6. It can't be locked as it sets off the alarm. This was due to the comfort module being flooded. I really can't be bothered replacing it and I don't care if the alarm works I just want to be able to lock it. Has anyone got any solutions. Thanks

Unfortunately the module controls a lot of that sort of stuff. Mine was replaced just before I got the car but later developed strange symptoms, one of which was that the alarm didn't clear on unlocking - that could be overridden by putting the key in the ignition and turning it. Turned out that the wiring had become corroded after what looked like a few years of damp caused by a leaky washer pipe (to the rear wash-wipe, it's an Avant). 12 hrs of labour involved in rewiring Sad

Bottom line is that only a new module and/or rewiring is going to fix it 100%. If you've just bought it from a motor trader then I reckon you've got a good case for getting them to fix it.
