not yet done it but will...

whilst putting my car in the garage to bed tonight(snowing) i parked up put the windw down to pull in the mirror and yup i got spat on as i had the intermitent wipers on. this so p***es me off even at speed this happens so this i what i intend to try.

take a pair of old wiper blades (24" would be better) trim with a craft knife so that all you are left with is the thin edge that actually wipes the window but make sure you trim so thet there is a wide base for you to stick on..

then by what ever means stick them to the rubber side edging of the window, top to bottom. this hopefully should deflect water up onto the roof gutter and stop it going straight past the chrome pillar onto your lap.

if done neatly you would not know they were there as your not putting them on the chrome edge.

only a thought and may not work but no harm in trying..........

just bought new blades so i had ago at trimming one of the old ones to experiment and impressed. abit short but works and blends in well.

i tried it out by spraying water with hose pipe and wipers on Intermit and hey, no more wet switches. there were only a few drops that fell near to the door mirror. should work ok at speed as it deflects the water but have yet to try.

picture ain't to clever but you get the idea!!!!!

farks me off like you wouldn't believe ... bought the cab and realised the wheels were terible so we went on a drive to get some new ones and on the motorway it chucked it down with rain ..... the wife at this time decides to have a cigarette and hey presto she's moist Wink

i've never had a car that would find ANY water around and push it sraight through the window even if it's open like 5mm.

if that deffinately works keep us updated and i'll give it a try Smile

Ohh no there not Russ Very Happy ...I find it fairly impossible to have either front window open in the wet. I find the lack of decent roof gutters a real pain too! Evil or Very Mad . If I've got wax on the car, pools of water sit on the roof, so as soon as I turn out of the works carpark with my window open it all sloshes in Evil or Very Mad . I have now learned to keep the windows shut untill I've been round a few corners Very Happy
Si.
P.S. Cool idea Pete. Thumbs Up

IT WORKS!!!!!!!

just tried in the rain and all ok, you can now sit at the lights have a fag whatever and not get wet each time the wipers sweep.

no more trying to open drivers window with correct gap so as the rain don't come in, about 10mm.....

just need a longer blade now to run full lengh..

this tip is only valid for drivers window as it deflects water from wiper blades away from chrome a pillar and away from your electrics........

The early models had a gap in the rubber to stop this happening, newer models more aero dynamic at the expense of wet switches Evil or Very Mad

richy,

don't see why it wouldn't work on passenger side as its main object is to divert water from going straight over the chrome trim. i only focused on drivers side as this is where you get soaked from the wipers when stationary.

give it a try.lol.......
