from the looks of it the whole lot is farked .... none of the garages will drill the bolts out of the downpipe to cat (that's the first thing that needs doing) they said i need to replace the lot.

also the rest is just starting to blow and because they know it's going they won't pass the mot .... so what i'm now thinking is that i'll get a tap and dye set and drill out the bolts then fix the cat for the mot and take it to a different place and hope that the rest passes the mot .... what ya think?

crap weekend ahead me thinks .... i sooooooooo wanted to get the spigot bearing done this month Sad

Jeeez Rich, You sure have had a whole mess of trouble with your cab what with one thing and another, considering it's an Audi i'd say you've had more than your share of problems Shocked . Next time you buy you'd better ask one of the lads to go with you Laughing Someone else raised the question of replacement exhausts in a recent post, seems like a custom made one was the way to go. Chin up !!!!!
Bruce.

£329 INC VAT FOR CAT BACK BUT £100 more for cat decat pipe ... £200 for new cat all from longlife ... and then a new down pipe to join it all to ... i think i'll just fix it all for now and then pop into allaudi sometime and get the rest second hand Smile

i don't seem to have any luck with anything really Sad ... sheet happens though.

nissan 300zx is next .... lets kill the bank balance with some speed Smile

yes i know it's a nissan but look at my luck with VW/AUDI/VAUXHALL/AUSTIN/ the only car that was any good was a volvo and i'm not going back there lol the old ones are ugly and the news ones cost a fortune lol

your not on your own with cab probs, i initially bought an audi to convince the missus that if i bought a quality car that holds better value and never goes wrong "german build quality" so i bought it. never the less i have had plenty of probs myself. most general wear and tear but all seem to come at once. next to do is seal on gearbox where selector shaft comes out, only slight leak but dripping on to cat and stinks when hot......

cheers guys .... i tried to get the fecker off this weekend with zero luck .... i managed to drill one half of a bolt out but i'm not even thinking about trying the rest as that took hours lol.

manor tyres are going to ring me with a qoute today for a new downpipe/cat and back box (unless i can find a back box i like before the 25th lol) MOT time.

whilst it was up on the ramp at longlife i noticed that the rear strut bushes were deader than a dead thing so they need doing but i'll just replace them with the blitzen ones for £15 each as it'll only be a temp thing till the new suspension is found or i find a tidy 300zx or s2

after the qoute from manor tyres i'm going to pop into allaudi to see what they can do with second hand parts and if it's not too bad then i'll get the gearbox done at the same time.

oh that reminds me "cloatsie" what sort of noise was yours making when the spigot bearing needed replacing? and when did it happen (mine just rattles when you press the clutch in, starts of quiet and gets louder till it's really anoying)

if yours was the same then my problem must be the same

mine use to rattle the most when releasing the clutch in reverse but as time went on it started to do it in first gear. i had already bought a new cluth thinking it was the thrust bearing so had that fitted at the same time.
