Hi,
Got an A4 1.9 TDi (110BHp) with 104000 miles on it. Fancy making it a bit quicker. I have read reviews of "Superchips" which adds 30 BHp (and 15% to the insurance - via Chris Knott - excellent).
Anybody got experiences of Superchips, or any other similar devices (i.e. adding about 30BHp and not costing more than ~£500 or so.

Have a look at the following:
www.upsolute.com
www.tunit.co.uk
the latter one i think would be better, as it is just a simple 'plug in module' which you can remove in minutes should you be worried about warrenties etc by your local VAG dealer!!
i thnk you will be surprised at the cost1
regards

I would reccomend the Upsolute chip, I have been running one for 9 Months with absoultly no problems, the increase in perfomance is staggering. The new chips are encoded with the vehicle key so that a dealer service will not know, and anyway you are out of warranty so it's not a factor.
A tuning box is not the way to go, they simply increase the ammount of fuel delivered, this can be dangerous for the engine if the injection timing is advanced too far. (As diesel injectors are a fixed size, more fuel can only be achieved by opening them for longer). They are a crude method of extracting more power and can never match a full re-map of the ECU.
Check out the Upsolute web-site, and also consider they are very reasonable - less than £300. |

The Superchips are a bit agricultural now I beleive.A friend had an APR chip in his TDI and it was superb, with no noticable compromises of any sort(he's now sold the car as someone just "had to have it"after driving it).His was fitted at Awesome.HTH,Hobby. |

Don't choice "Sup**chip"! A lot of BMW with this chip were broken down on the road in HK. So, no VAG owner get it. |
