I recently removed the alternator on my car. Before removal I had to take off some cables that were attached to it. There were 2 larger cables that were paired and were held onto the alternator with a 15mm nut. There was also a small blue cable that was held with an 8mm nut. When I was refitting the alternator the small blue cable somehow got snapped and I cannot see where the break is or where it attaches to. The Haynes manual is not very clear either.
Does anyone know where the small blue wire connects to please or what it is for?

Thanks

Kev

The blue wire runs to the ignition warning lamp on the instrument cluster. I might have more info in the Bentley manual.

It also provides a small current to energise the alternator windings & kick off the charging process.

Thanks Ian Smile

I think that it may have came from the sheathing surrounding the two red cables. I will investigate further tomorrow...

Thanks

Kev

I cut the sheathing back and it revealed the mating end of blue wire Shocked
Made up a new end piece and joined to the original and hey presto it works!
