Oil consumption in A4 (B8) 2.0 TFSI.

Hi Guys, just bought myself a nice, used, 58-plate A4 S-line 2.0 TFSI saloon. Mileage has just gone to 80k, and is running fine. However, having done only about 500 miles in it, I've had to top-up the oil 3 times!! Surely that's not right. Any pointers I can use to take back to the suppliers? Grateful for any info!

Audi told me that a 2.0 petrol should be expected to use about 1ltr in 3,000 miles. My 53 plated, 93,000 miles A4 uses about that fairly consistently.

Just one thing - you are topping up based on what the dipstick is telling you, and not relying on the "low oil" warning? The sensors are know to fail.

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. Yes, I am responding to the warning system, as this particular model doesn't have a dipstick! (incredible, but true, and a fact I was completely unaware of when I bought it). I have been considering the possibility of a faulty sensor/switch, which is why I've used the forum for some pointers. The car is booked in to the place I bought it from on Tuesday, so I'll post the outcome later in the week.
