I've stuck this on here as I don't think many people read the Vag-Com page.
My central locking is not working. A scan with VCDS says that the key needs recoding or adapting or something. I can't find the procedure on the Ross Tech wiki so can anybody help?
Ta very much.

I think you may have to visit a dealer.
Does your spare key do the same ?
I recently bought another A8 which only came with 1 key. Had to get another spare key and it was a dealer only job.
They basically will reprogram all the keys from scratch by removing all the keys adapted to the car and re-adding them |

Hi Mike.
I don't have a spare key. Actually, I been thinking, It may just be the battery in the key fob has drained. I'll change it and see what happens.
If that doesn't work and I do need to recode the fob can I not do it with Vag Com or do I still need to see the dealer?
Cheers

You'll be able to code a single key.
You'll not be able to add a second key |

Most newer cars need to be logged online to code new keys with dealer level diagnosis. That is something we can do here as we do have a online VAS 5051B. We do also offer a discount to forum members. |
