major set back with my nice shiney chrome amp! it f***ed up at the w/end so any funds i had to finish now have to be spent on a new amp (not happy). i have put it down to not slamming the boot hard enough after removing the pod as this adds quite a bit of weight so i'm use to letting it drop down itself. so be warned if you have audio goods in your boot.
opened the boot monday only to find condensation on the amp cover and the sub magnets, metal attracts moisture!
subs are ok but amp has buggered itself. i'm watching one on ebay at the mo so may replace v/cheap otherwise another purchase from california. worked it out to be £98 inc shipping and customs. rrp over here is now £252 was £320 when i got mine.
hopefully have finished soon. |

£20 DVD, YES THATS RIGHT, my missus went to tesco and got me a pretty small dvd with full function remote for 20 notes. i was gonna use a ps2 as they are 2 in 1 but i never play games so went for the cheap option as i ain't much funds to complete.
[/url] not much room!

update!
as i'm running out of space my fellow customiser mate "chris" has just made me a rack for the battery to sit on. not got a welder cuz otherwise i'de of done it myself!
this will allow me to sit the battery on top of the dvd player.
had another mockup, the pod has not yet been clear coated thus it looks dull plus i need another set of comps to complete!
the pic with the grey rings around the speakers give's you an idea of what the finished product will look like. these will actually be polished alloy rings sandwiched between a perspex ring that will be lit up with blue l.e.d's so all 4 mids will look like they've got blue halo's.
COMIN ON!!!!!!!! LOL

befor i put the clearcoat finish on the colors were a good match but clearcoat brings out the true color on any paint thus the difference.
what i'll have to do is clearcoat the the rest of the boot lid around the pod as this only has a matt type finish like in the engine bay.
this should sort it other wise i'll be painting again.
the piant was mixed at my local body shop using my paint code but then the car is nealy 9yrs old. on the other hand it could be me being fussy.

getting there.
got the last pair of mids out of my door pods for the boot cuz there the same. gonna put 2 pairs of mids in their place. (4 mids in the door instead of 2)
only got the 4 polished rings to do for the speakers and re do the battery cover so not far off complete. hate to think what this lot would have cost if i got it all made and fitted by a audio shop.....
i hope this is the only cabriolet in the world with this set up for all the hours of work i have put in, otherwise i'll be a little peed off!

first of 4 alloy speaker rings, cut out with a jig saw and smoothed down with a drill and flap wheel then to be polished.
only another 3 to go.

BOOT LID NOW FINISHED!
because i have used component speakers you get a full range of sound especially with the subs being so close.
all i have to do now is sand and paint the revised battery cover as it had to pretude further due to dvd player.
JUST ONE MORE POST WITH FULL INSTALL AND JOB DONE!
