Got a set of ignition leads for the 20v sent through from GSF today and it seems the lead that goes from the dizzy to the coil is missing. Is it supposed to be in the box?
The box had already been opened so looks like it could have been lost or nicked by a previous customer. |

need to phone them to clarify i think...
I ordered a 'set' from Audi for my CQ20V in 2003 and for some reason their ignition lead set doesn't come with the coil dizzy lead.
GITS.

Thanks. it appears that the King lead does not come with the set, they have checked 3 boxes and all are missing. |

as a matter of interest , what did you pay ?
I am looking at buying a 4+1 set from performanceleads in cornwall , to uprate from 7mm to 8mm for an lpg vehicle , reasonable price with lengths to my special spec.
they do 7A leads......at 5 times the price so won't be changing them right now

Hi leb, think they are about £70 for the set. Not seen the final price as they are on an account. I will p[robably just send them back as I can get a set of Drivemaster leads with the king lead for a couple of quid less. The drivemaster leads I have for my other 7a are fine, and IMO better quality than the GSF ones.
Drivemaster parts can be bought from any member of the UK parts alliance. |

can't imagine where you will get a set very cheaply ; apparently the problem is that the special fitting that goes down to the plugs costs the earth
if I remember correctly the performanceleads .co.uk ones are £125 ,admittedly for an uprated set ; but I understand that there is a slightly longer fitting which is cheaper , but with plastic covers over the engine they won't fit underneath ; if you have no plastic cover and this isn't a problem you could measure the ones you have and give them a bell or an E and ask ; they made a set with special lengths of lead for my lpg motor home at no extra cost

Audi are also over £100 for a full set.
I have heard lots of mixed opinions about the Uprated leads but with such little difference in price over a standard set they are worth looking into.
Ive sent an email off to vagparts earlier ordering some parts and also asked for a price on the ignition leads so il post what they are when I get a reply.
Next time someone asks for buying advice on a 20v il just recommend getting an S2 as parts seem to be cheaper and easier to find. |

I used GSF leads on my CQ20V and they were OK. About £70 the set (seem to recall I got all leads) but that was about 6 years ago.
Funnily enough, I spent less on my S2 than I did on my CQ20V !!!! |

thanks if you could let me know what vagparts charge that would be great. otherwise its demon/performace leads.
they are of course the same as a 16v golf, but you have to order two sets then and you end up with 3 you dont need!
argh!
i was looking at old pictures of my car when i bought it, she was so nice then, and needs so much doing now. i was driving down a back lane today, where it had been raining the ferns were in the road and as i thought - i wonder if that might catch my ..... i noticed the aerial swinging around in my rear view. that tears it, she clatters like a bag of nails too, i really hope its that 2nd hand alternator or the steering pump i put on...
still the leads will sort the lumpiness i hope. start there. |

Have you looked at leads from these guys (£45)?
http://www.ignitioncarparts.co.uk/Mod.aspx?Man=AUDI
I bought an impulse sender for a 16v from them and have heard good things about their distributors.

the 20v ones listed are not for the 20v, they are incorrect.
however they sell golf 16v leads, picture looks right.
email sent, results posted soon, i hope.
thanks for your help daz!

I had an email from Alan at Vagparts today and Plug leads are available separately, number 1 lead is £17.10+vat, leads for no 2 3 4 & 5 £13.61+vat each, king lead £15.98+vat. I have 10% club discount set on my vagparts account so not sure if these are the discounted prices or the non discounted prices.
Also noticed 034 motorsport have some that work out about £58 for the set, however the shipping is a killer. Even if we got these done as a group buy I expect customs would want in on the action too. |
