Guys who know me know that I recently sold my CQ20V to get something with 4 doors. After a few weeks searching i have now got a 2002 A4 1.8T SE (2 local owners, 60k FSH silver - very comfortable but a bit soft when pressing on).
All the best for 2009.

Nice one Bill.
So what bhp engine is that? there seems to be so many variations. And what extra spec does the SE version offer? |

I am sure that there are many others on here who will know the spec better than me but here goes -
It has 150 bhp (for now), driver information system (computer), dual climate control - which is brilliant I like the car to be warm while my wife prefers to drive in a fridge! nice 4 spoke leather steering wheel, 16 inch 5 spoke alloys and BOSE speakers. It only has a single cd player so I might look at changing the head unit so that I can play / control my ipod through it. It has a 5 speed box but this seems to suit the car well - seems better geared than the 6 speed 180bhp Toledo I once owned. oh and 2 separate tail pipes
cheers. |

good choice...
The BOSE options are weird you can pick loads of variants. have a look in the boot side panels for a BOSE amp as well, the sound quality should be spot on.
dual climate control, Audi were quick in realising wives always prefer the opposite temperature! Only note there is the "-" and "+" buttons get quite worn, ie un readable as they get used more and more out A6 ones are almost pure white now, the A4 ones are starting to go, i put some clear acrylic on them to reduce the wear. i noticed BMW coat all the buttons in ceramic probably for the longevity.
Same engine we have the in our A6, i had it remapped 2 years ago, big torque increases, usual mpg on town but on long runs even the big car sees 38/39mpg. so the A4 would do better still. however things to watch... and the 1.8T is well documented. Oil pickup, stung me badly, and the long life oil. Be sure to use the right oil in this engine, as the feeder pipes to the turbo are very slim and do get clogged (voice of experience) and can dry up the metal/metal bearings and eat a turbo. i thought i was unique until i googled it... Coil packs/ MAF also. However as a common power plant there is a hell of a lot of information available, spares coming out your ears!
have a few hours?

I do think its a good engine. Done 70k on ours in coming up for 4 years. |

thanks for the tips and link - a couple of the stereo buttons have faded - including the "seek" button which seems a bit strange |
