Anyone seen a decent procedure for cruise control retrofit on the A4 B5 facelift model.

Found this on with the search function but really after a good one for the A4 with pictures.

Ok switch was the easy part. (except its a spline socket rather than a nut on the steering wheel - face lift model). VAG-COM mod was easy.

But the cable.....where do you plug it in???? Photos anyone? Do you have to pull the ECU out in the engine compartment? Is it the white plug?

Well the switch was straight forward as was the recoding . The wire was not much fun. Anyway took some pictures in case anyone else has a go.

Cable was bought from Kuftech. No instructions but I emailed them and they sent a wiring diagram.

The cables are all grey but have the pin numbers printed on them.

First remove the engine control unit from under the bonnet.

White plug is the one you are after.

You need to disconnect all the plugs and then unscrew the black holding plate. Then push the new (grey wires) up from under the dash.

The white plugs come apart. The next two pics show the ECU side of the plug which is already wired.
Switch----ECU side
Pin 10 ----SW/WS----black/white (although it looked black/yellow to me)
Pin 07 ----Ro/gr----red/gray
Pin 08 ----Bl---- Blue
Pin 09 ----Ro/ge ----red/yellow

This is on the other side of the plug where you plug the pins in. The pin numbers are identified at each end of the plug. Look for the grey wires plugged in. Check them against the colours on the other side.

Power the unit of the rail under the dash. I connected with a 2 amp fuse on to the nut under the 204 relay. It is only live when the ignition is on.

My cruise control has been generally working fine. The only issue I have is when I push the button to de-accelerate the rate at which it does this is very poor to negligible. It does slow down and you can see the command getting sent via vag-com but the rate of slow down is poor.
There is a big difference in the rate compared with the V6 cabriolet cruise. ITs really annoying when you creep up behind someone in cruise and need to adjust the speed down and very little happens.

Does anyone know if there is an adaptation modification you can do in VAG-COM to increase the rate of de-acceleration?

Thanks Colin.

Hello, I just ask you if the connection also works for cars fitted with automatic gearboxes?
Thank you
