Hi folks,

I've got a leak from the big cavity by the fuel tank which I believe is where the fuel pump lives. My fuel pump has buzzed and made all sorts of noises since owning it. Now I'm hoping that replacing it with a new unit will also fix the leak, possibly not Smile

Anyway, I'm not sure which pump I'll need, am I best taking the old unit out to get a part number, looking on GSF/euro carparts they tend to list about 3 different units, I'm a bit confused.

Thanks in advance

Rog

Best thing to do is get the Bosch part number off the Bosch online catalogue

Cheers guys. That's the guide I've been looking through. My concern is now with what pump I should be getting, I've seen ebay shops selling them for £40 delivered, but as I've mentioned there seems to be various models, is it a case that any will fit as long as they're designed for the 2ltr 16v (ACE), or if I pull out a Bosch pump do I need to replace it with the same?

Thanks again

Rog

I don't know if this will help or confuse the issue? I read in a lot of cases, the replacement pump from Audi may not be identical to the one that comes out. (this may vary by engine type) The replacement pumps sometimes need a different 'mounting cage'. I guess you should search coupe fuel pump probs, you will see what I mean?

Cheers Scotty, that's kind of what I hoping and also worried about. I'm hoping any pump designed for my model will do, but the mounting cage might be an issue, as you say I'll do some more searching and see what comes up, but to be honest these Coupes don't seem too popular, so there's next to no info Sad

Thanks again

Rog

Well I've removed my fuel pump, and its the Pierburg model, as per the model seen in RobonMac's guide (FAQ section) - as previously mentioned, my concern here is that the replacement model seems more likely to be the fatter Bosch model, so there's the issue of the cradle. After quite a bit of internet digging I found the link below, which is a Bulgarian forum, and the guy has done a similar guide to RobonMac, except he's got the extra steps of removing and dismantling the cradle with pictures, so that he can fit the Bosch, so I think I'm going to order the Bosch model and see how I go. Thought I'd add this as it may well help others in the future. I'll post back once I've received my new pump and hopefully had success in fitting it.

MODS - If this link isn't allowed, please just remove it.

Thanks again

Hi, how did you get on with this in the end? I am in the same position, but I can get hold of the Pierburg (long body). Because my Pierburg is so damn noisy I was thinking about a bosch 040 swap.
