Only had the car about 2 weeks before I did this.....

I wanted to get rid of the Concert radio and install the RNS-E SatNav unit

This was not an easy task.
Had to take away the arm rest, glove box, the plastic cover underneath the steering wheel, center console, A/C unit, gear box gaiter, ash tray, the little self behind the ash tray, switches, drink holder and the console which holds the radio and A/C unit in place

Out with the old radio

Glove box out

Drivers panel out

Ash tray, shelf and gear box gaiter removed

Arm rest out, rear ash tray gone - allows access to the center console bolts

Center console out

Single DIN console holder removed, this was replaced with a double DIN one.

Just connected up to see if it works OK

Had to cut out a small section of the center console Embarassed

and cut up half of the little tray which sits behind the ash tray Confused

Old console on the left, new double DIN on the right

In place

Refitting it all, up behind the glove box was an excellent mounting place for the GPS receiver.

Job Done! Cool

I just over did it when I had to cut/trim the sides down on the A/C unit to make it fit as it tapers inwards.

The RNS-E unit I got new off from ebay.
The double DIN came from work 8E0 858 005E they do come up on ebay quite often.
The cable kit and GPS receiver came from Kufatec http://www.kufatec.de/shop/
Get yourself this

Ideal for removing trim etc without damaging it

Cheers Mark!
