In December 2002 my mother-in-law sadly died. She owned a 1974 ('N' reg ) sky-blue coloured Audi 80 which she hardly used after her husband died in the late 80's. The car has therefore only done around 35,000 genuine miles. The ownership of the car has now passed to my wife. However, later this year we are emigrating to Australia and therefore wish to sell the car.

Could you please advise me on the following:-
-Is it worth getting the car MOT tested before we sell it?
-What sort of price do you think we can ask for it? It's in fairly
good condition as it has been garaged 99% of the time over the past 15 years.
-Where would anyone recommend advertising the car? We currently live in Droitwich in Worcestershire, but the car is in Doncaster.

Many thanks in advance for any response you give.
Neil

Hello, unless the car is a GT/GTE they do not command high prices, however it`s a buyers market and you can never tell if someone fancies it so will pay the asking price whatever that may be. Presentation is everything, good pictures of a well kept clean car with service history and a new MOT will make the car more attractive, any bills, books etc should be kept.As a guide this is quoted from "Practical classics" magazine.
Condition 1 1400 = Excellent in all respects
Condition 2 700 = Capable of regular use, current MOT
Condition 3 150 = May be drivable, may need a rebuild

This site is a good place to start, use the classifieds to advertise and put a picture and contact details.
What model is the car, colour, condition, price etc.
Good luck Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for this. Does 'Practical Classics' have a website that I can upload digital photo's of the car along with the sales spiel, or is all the selling done via the hard copy of the magazine.

All sales are dealt with by the mag, why not get your own pictures and download them to this site, it`s easy peasy via the gallery.
