My ESP warning light has started to come on when I am between 9 and 10 minutes into every journey. I had the alternator clutched pulley changed on the weekend Very Happy and it started doing this after I collected the car Sad . I will of course take it back to the mechanic but thought I'd ask here in the meantime in case anyone knows what this peculiarity is - I can understand upsetting it if I mash the pedals on a series of tight bends but this comes on without fail after a set amount of time irrespective of driving style/conditions. Confused
Cheers

Hi,

Really, you need to plug it into a diagnostics machine to tell categorically, but a common issue with the B6 and B7 A4's is a dodgy brake light switch. That will light up the ESP light. I've done about 3 on the wife's A4.

It can be dodgy, despite the brake lights working ok.

Regards,

Thanks Pete,
Sounds like a plausible cause. Sadly the cam belt failed the week before Xmas so it's being repaired as we speak. I'll get the fault code read when I collect the car.
Best wishes
Kev
