Does anybody have experience of the various Rim repair kits available on the net? My summer wheels need attention but just how good are these products? Thanks. Rolling Eyes

Aren't they just a small tub of filler, some paint and sandaper? As with any paintwork repair, their effectiveness will mostly depend on your level of skill and patience, coupeld with a bit of luck that the colour may match. If it's only a couple of marks per rim I'd give it a try, but more than that I think I'd have them proessionally done & powder coated instead.

Tim, as I have never seen any of these products other than on the net, I was thinking about the paint provided. There are many different silver tones so one would probably have to paint the whole wheel if the provided paint is not a match. The actual damage to the rims is not bad, so I was thinking of doing them as I have to change to winter tires now. Smile

As the chance of it being a good match is pretty slim, and also those kits don't seem to have much paint in them so it could get expensive, why not just repaint the whole wheels any way. I've used the Simoniz 5 wheel silver paint like this before & had pretty decent results - it'll never win shows but will look pretty decent if you take your time with the preparation

Any little scrapes can be filled wth normal body filler before painting too.
