I am looking to buy an Audi 2011 S5 that has ~19K miles on it. On the Carfax report, it shows one owner but the driveshaft was replaced after owner had it 2.5 yrs. Dealer tried to sell it after then it was sent to auction. Now is for sale at a non-Audi dealership. It seems too early for that car to have the driveshaft replaced, no?
As a woman buying a car on my own, I was wondering if anyone has any advice or information that could help so that I don't get b.s.'d? Thank you Smile

I'd have a local independent car inspection specialist (mechanic) look at the car to determine if it was the central drive shaft or a single axle shaft that was replaced and done right. If the car is for sale at a good price (below book), it would be worth the extra expense.

The car could have run over something that damaged the shaft or, more likely, it was a repair "invented" by an Audi dealer to address a vibration that was more likely a tire problem...a common method dealers use to make money off Audi (under warranty) or the customer.
