So I'm about to order new lower door and rear quarter rubber strips - any sage words of advice regarding fitting them? All the clips are tight and solid but I'll order a few spares 'just in case'. Should I smear the new rubbers with anything, or fill the door recesses with lard/waxoyl/something else prior to fitting?

Thanks chaps.

I realise this is an old request but here are the elsawin instructions for fitting the sill panel trims..

Part numbers for ordering are:

Lower door moulding strip LH (895 853 959A 01C)
Lower door moulding strip RH (895 853 960A 01C)
LH Finisher clip (895 853 113A 01C)
RH Finisher clip (895 853 114A 01C)
Lower 1/4 panel strip LH (895 853 541 01C)
Lower 1/4 panel strip RH (895 853 542 01C)

They are easy to remove, just remove the retaining clips on the door sill trims with a flat head screwdriver and slide the trim to the rear.
The quarter panel trims simply slide off by pulling towards the rear wheel. Fitting can be quite fiddly, and it helps if the clips on the doors are clean and free of any grime that would've built up over the years!

Lubrication would no doubt help, but what I found the hardest was levelling up all 3 fitting points at one time on the large door trims - you must offer the trim up next to each point as level as possible and slide it on in one go, getting all 3 on at once. This can be infuriating! Twisted Evil I guess it would be much easier if you have someone to help!

Thanks Fubar, I've fitted them all now. I found that the rears went on better by aligning the two clips and slots and sliding the strip backwards, then forwards to pick up the front clip. After working that out, the other side took about 10 seconds to slip on.

Just as well as Mrs Roosta now wants new rear ones on hers.

Thanks again for the info though, much appreciated.
