Hi,

I have a problem with my Audi a6 2.8v6 quattro!!

Basically yesterday it overheated and the water boiled and sprayed out everywhere.

The AA came out to look at it and they thought that the head gasket had gone.

I did a compression test on it today and I'm getting 14 bar on each cylinder, there is no gunk in the oil filler cap and no oil in the header tank. So this rules out the head gasket!

Where should I be looking next?

Cheers,

Paul.

thermostat buried in front of right "v"/head as you look at it from front of car i think you need to take timing belt cover etc off at least, to change it

is your water pump gubbed? what age of a6 2.8? if you have not changed the timing belt idler and tensioner recently then definitely would be worth doing right now........

fans on radiator work?

were you sitting in traffic/towing etc? any brakes seized??
