Radio reception problems

I have a 2003 2.5TDi Avant on a 03 plate & I'm starting to have radio reception problems. For example I could be listening to BBC radio 2 & as I drive down the road from Home to my nearest Town the signal seems to go as if the RDS is not scanning for another freq(but still get BBC2 in the display). I had the Roof aerial replaced as the old one was damaged, thinking this was causing problem. Still happening. The radio is the factory fitted Symphony with the built in CD changer. The is no phone or Satnav connected to it. I did a bit of Googling, but have got very confused. As some articles state there are FOUR aerials & a "Diversity box?" controls which aeriall to use. I thought it just used the roof mounted one. Help please.
