First of all sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I was wondering what the max torque capacity was of the diff's in Audi 80/90 quattros and 100/200's.
Are they all the same differentials? Or are they dependant on what engine was fitted.

Also same question about gearboxes for the above cars.

Is it that the same diffs are fitted to a 2.0 quattro as they are to an S2? Or are they completely different?

Thanks in Advance

I'm hoping someone can see this and answer..... I think the diffs need to be matched up to certain gearboxes, providing they are the same type (cable/ pneumatic/ torsen)- we know that a gearbox and diff on a 20v (and possibly a 10 valve) 5 speed will work in an S2 that's over 400bhp. Don't ask how long it lasts though because the guy is not exactly mechanically sympathetic....

different gearboxes have different torque limits - it's usually down to the engine output. eg, the standard S2 5 speed box has a torque limit of 310 Nm. Engine output of the 3B in the S2 is 309.

Diffs vary. common ratios used are 35/9 (3.89)and 37/9 (4.11). Not sure what the 2.0 quattro uses but generally the same family shares the components
