You need vent wheels from the 4E model A8/S8's from around mid 2003 onwards.
4D model up to 2003 are a lot smaller and won't work Wink

Door markers lights.
I've tried various types from different Audi models, even a couple from non audi models. All were slightly to large for what I wanted. Even then, why mess on when I can use some lights I already have.
Problem though, they are the clear lights used in the boot of the Coupes and 80/90's, the same as I used for the rear footwell lights further back in this thread.
Yeah I suppose I could have used a red bulb, but I wanted a red lense.
Step forward Andy (audioc) who has some red bulb dip he bought years ago.
Andy kindly dipped these for me today.
Turned out way way better than I expected Very Happy Spot on.
When I'm back mobile enough to whip the door cards off, I'll cut a neat hole out of the end of the door card and fit these. Wired up the internal lights circuit. I already have some wiring ready inside from when I had the interior handles on that circuit.

Some piccies.

I won't mate, I know my limits Wink

........................................................................................................................................................................

Uh uh uh, forgot about these Rolling Eyes

My old 2.3e and the cq20v had these. Remember asking my dad if he spec'ed them when he bought the 2.3e new, but he said he didn't.
S2 doesn't have them? so maybe they were standard at first then became and option? No idea.

Anyhoo, saw some on fleabay, and bought em. Advert said four, picture showed three (four handles but three lights)
Of course I only got the three, to be expected from the ebay knob I got them from (only one ebay knob selling audi bits Evil or Very Mad )

There are two versions of the grab handles lights;

Fronts have a three position switch 1/ on and off with the door, 2/ off completely and 3/ permanently on.
The rear have a two position switch 1/ Off completely and 2/ permanently on.

"Luckily" I got two fronts and one rear. Just as well as I'm not too fussed about rear grab handle lights, though if I'd had the whole lot I would have fitted them.

They are the wrong colour for my trim, being grey (I have ecru beige) but then I'm not fitting the whole grab handle, just the lights themselves.
If you didn't have them fitted from the factory, there is a blanking plate which can be removed, then the lights clipped in.
I'm going to have a grey switch against the beige grab handle, but it's not too noticeable.

Now I noticed right back at the beginning when fitting the first set of footwell lights, that the rear light in the centre of the roof had an extra set of pins and socket for another connector with power going to them. All I'm going to do is use the correct connector plug and run two sets of wiring from that to the new grab handle lights, one set of wiring down each side of the roof trim to the new lights. I've tracked down in the FA (confirmed by Andy from the V8's wiring loom, they used the same grab handle lights) the correct three pin connectors that plug into the rear of the lights. I could solder directly to the pins and cover with heatshrink but it's nice to use the correct connectors and proper pins.
They'll be coming from vagparts some time this week.

The three extra terminals and space for an extra connector on the centre rear light;

The grab handle and lights, you can see the blanking plates used when not fitted from the factory.

My grab handles with blanking plate;

And with a light fitted. Easy to do, remove two screw cover caps, remove two screws and grab handle pulls away (Just quickly fitted to show what they look like and the grey switch over the beige handle. Not too bad really). It's not wired up yet until the connectors arrive.

Jase,
where abouts are you going to fit the door trim lights?Are these for the inner rear area or the bottom area?These are not for illuminating the street when you open the door,are they?

Im still trying to find a way to incorporate those without having to cut part of the door panel to make it happen.Perhaps the small LEDs would be a solution,but then they wouldnt match the rest of the inner lights which are regular bulbs.(and changing those to LEDs is not an option...have tried it and they look awful...

No, not for illuminating the floor mate. I haven't got that far yet. These are for marking the edge of the door, so driver coming up behind can see the edge of the door on a night when you are getting out. All of todays Audi's have these.

Well, this is a one up for the Coupe trim (yay) over the trim on the avant.
On the Coupe, the trim returns around the side of the door and I have plenty of room for the lights in the area I indicate in the picture below.

It doesn't return round the side on the avant and I'm not sure where you'd place them to be honest Vasilis.
Which ever way, to use this type of light you are going to have to cut into some part on the edge of the door. Only alternative I can think off is to use the red led strips I used to make the inner door pull lights, they stick on.

Where mine will go;

Possible location for you?

This guy in germany put his here on his cabriolet;

That's the thing, if you want those lights, you'll have to chop in somewhere.

Glad you think so James, cos I've got one grey and one beige now Laughing
One of my mates sent me a spare beige one he had. If I find another it's just a 2 minute job to switch over.

So, I got these done this afternoon, in between pulling Sooty's stalks apart Shock

Easy job. Power taken from the rear light as said further back in the post. It has a spare position for another connector, I suspect rear grab handle lights would have been taken from here at the factory, the front centre light has a spare position too. So removed rear trim, led wiring to each side and down the length of the car behind the side roof trim and into the back of grab handles. Having the right OEM wiring/pins and connectors made the job a piece of cake. I had to extend said OEM wires, as they are only 50cm long, but that's no big deal.

Ignore the red lights, not got that far yet.
