I'm starting this now.....
This is my 4th 90 quattro I've owned; a 10 valve one (tweaked, written off by another driver) the 2nd one was a 20valve quattro Sport- didn't hold the same appeal; the third was a 10valve quattro I should never have bought (and lets be honest, I had no qualms in breaking it!) and now this.

Brief overview:

Audi 90 quattro, series 3, 1988/ 89. Bought about 3 and a half years ago with 54,000 miles on the clock, 10valve, 136bhp from the factory.......

Solid black, factory leather, manual sun roof, electric windows all round. Needed a wheel bearing and an exhaust, and was bought from a few photos "through an acquaintance of a friend" in Southampton. It's understood the car has been stood at some point, and suspect it's also had a rear ender (this has since been confirmed- was done when the car was only a couple of months old)- I've met the guy who placed the order for the car on the customers behalf at the original dealership....

First thing- fit the Scorpion twin DTM stainless steel exhaust, clear front indicators, 3 spoke sport steering wheel, and lowered it with a Proven Products System 2 kit.

Jobs since then: it's had 3 sets of lights on the rear- the originals, then the light smoked indicators (ordered from Hong Kong via EBay USA- believed to be the first set in the UK- now with Eric (Nogin))
Followed by "all red" on the rear, then followed by an "all black" set from Stanford Hall (Hella)

The rear parcel shelf was replaced for a flat one with 6x9 speakers in, an Alpine head unit, Motorola Bluetooth prototype car kit, amp and sub in the boot (2 versions have existed)

Parts have either come from my old 90 quattro, friends/ users on here, E Bay or www.allaudi.co.uk as well as GSF, Trechii and VAGParts

The air box was drilled, and k&n placed in.

Cylinder head came from a car I obtained once- pack C TSR head- 40mm/38mm valves, ported and polished. This also has a Piper 276degree fast road cam fitted (needs a vernier pulley)

Brakes have been uprated for G60/ Twin pot S2 items with disks to match, along with Goodridge stainless braided hoses.

Genuine Audi carpet mats fitted up front, along with Mac Audio dash fit speakers with OFC cable throughout.

Wheels... I'm a wheel whore.... my original set of Oz 17" were sold to Mick (Mad Mick McSmiley) on here- I replaced them with a set of 17" 5 spokes from E Bay with tyres (sexy as)- these were buckled by a pot hole (awaiting repair) so I now have the "rare" Nothelle "Classic" 16" rims- you either like them or you don't......... I've also got a set of 15 inch speedlines, and some 15 inch 7 spoke things, as well as I don't know what else....

Oil and Filter- always genuine filter, prefer to use Quantum silver semi synthetic......

Servicing has either been done by myself or Eric, or help from Phil (and Donald in the past)- Eric did the cylinder head/ timing belt/ water pump.

Recently the Tappets were in dire need of attention. These were ordered from Trechii and fitted by Eric- absolute bargain. Also recently done is the stainless locking ring top mounts and poly bushes all round (again fitted by Eric)

There's still an issue with an ABS sensor that needs checking (intermittent) and I'm toying with replacing the rear shelf for a genuine one bought from Clivey, complete with integrated rear sun blind (rare AS)

Immediate problem (as of this morning)- flat battery, no channels on the radio, head unit not recognising the sub woofer or the Audio input from the bluetooth car kit (the kits works, I just can't stream Audio from the phone)

There's also the huge damp patch in the passenger footwell (carpet is sodden) and a bit of misting. I think the heater matrix has gone, and as the cables/ kit were above the glove box, under/ behind the matrix....

Typically the dashboard out/ in is a 2 day job.....

I'm going to see if I can do it, and change the matrix, in under 4 hours.

This is possible, depending upon how much time I spend "tweaking" the wiring system behind the dashboard.....

I'll add photos later. (There's plenty to choose from)

its wet through under the floor mat. It smelled a little... not much- state of the floor mat, no way I'm putting my finger in that then "tasting" it Laughing

So, it's dashboard out time. It may take a little longer than planned, especially seeing as I forgot I've got to remove the heater blower and pipework to get to the matrix Evil or Very Mad

At some point, complete paint job.... 2 boot lids- one with spoiler (like now) and one without....

Will at some point replace the mechanism for the roof to electric, replace the fuel tank possibly for one with a ski hatch, and I want to alter some of the electrics (like a dim/ delay when you close the doors like on the newer ones) plus HID's and maybe fit the V6 front bumper (but I want to fit the chrome strips as well- so that'll be different)- as well as refurbish/ fix the 5 spoke wheels and get the nothelles a bit "bling"

I also fancy the windows being tinted a bit. not too chav, I hope. Laughing

oh. And I've had/ got a Kamei grille for it. I'm going to make my own like I did on the first car- much preferred...... also.. anyone got a Kamei eyebrow spoiler they don't want anymore (like Daryl has on his Coupe and I had on my first 90)

Plus I need a vernier pulley.....

This car is fastidiously maintained at the local car wash specialist. Often this costs to the tune of several pounds.

happy with my 10valves and one cam.... everyone else goes down the 20valve route... so sticking with 1 cam is fine for me.

What's not fine is the heater matrix- took Tracy to work this morning- she could see where the water was "pouring out"- I dropped her off and took the car home and used hers for work. There's a paddling pool in the passenger footwell now Sad

I've removed the 2 hoses in the engine bay, where they go through the bulkhead. I've also disconnected the battery.....

Plan is to pick mine up from Phil's @ some point Saturday, and hopefully get back to mine and fit it Sunday (have a wedding Saturday night in Worksop)

It may take me a little bit longer than expected (thanks for reminding me about some stuff Eric)- and I may need to get a gazeebo out of the lock up down here if it keeps raining. Adam should be ok giving me a hand with this- he's helped me with other cars recently

Biggest issue will be drying the carpets out underneath. Think I may get some silica gel/ moisture traps see if that will do it. Could do with a wet/ dry hoover at this rate though Rolling Eyes

The carpets will dry naturally but if you're going to the trouble of removing the dash and heater matrix, I'd remove the carpet at the same time.

It's not that difficult - just remove the seats, centre console and side trims and the whole lot lifts out

I need to do this quickly; will not have time to take the carpet and seats out to dry it out... I need the car back together tomorrow night. (Otherwise I'll just bodge a quick fix taking the matrix out of the loop)- I've got all next weekend to do the car.

I'm in Basingstoke most of next week and I'm car sharing- so I don't need the car..... (apart from to get to work Monday and Tuesday morning)

right. 4 hours, in/ out is feasible. IF you don't have to use a diesel space heater that took 4 HOURS to dry the carpet out Shock

still not together- plan is before the weekend- got a north wales blast to attend!
