thought i'd have a trial fit of whats planned with the headlights, I quite like the look and will do it properly when i've fitted the hid kit. I just used an old spare b4 light to try on.

big day tommorow in terms of doing stuff on the car, I finish early so hopefully get a bit done Laughing

The marks on the headlight is where its been in the car recently. It does come out a lot better if I actually cleaned it before I fitted it Laughing

yeah I know about the screw, that headlight does not have the bits to hold the underheadlight trim on so in that picture its just held on with a cable tie and that screw.

I'm eventually going to use the headlights that are on there now. That is a spray that I have used to do it but I also have the film to have a go with I just did not have the equipment at mine last week to do it properly so I didn't attempt the film and just had a go with the spray.

Well started about 3 this afternoon and the car does now have a new dash in it. Also managed to put some red bulbs in the heater dials to inhance the red.

I fitted the wiring for the heated seats but think somethings wrong with them, just ran out of light to check whats up with it.

Gonna go get some clips tommorow from the local spares place and fit the carbon dash panel tommorow.

Then its the fun of fitting the electric window loom and s2 avant door cards.

Well I had another look at the heated seat loom/switches.

I have two different styles and after speaking with jas and an s2forum member seems I have both the early and late.

early is a 5 pin with external relays same as shown in jas's sooty thread
late is 6 pin internal relay and longer than normal switches.

unfortunately all 3 switches have blown bulbs for the lighting so this will be done asap.

I managed to get one of the bases to warm up as the guy who removed them from the car (an ebay seller who sold them to who I bought them off) butchered the wiring for the elements.

I have used the loom I got for my s2 for the time being and will have a think about the spare loom as I was just going to bin it but someone said to keep it and sort it, i'm not sure if I can be bothered yet Confused

Yeah i've been signed off for 3 weeks due to an op on my back yesterday. I'm gonna try get back in a weeks time if I can try not to loose too much money.

Just ordered a HID kit tonight so I can properly put the black lights on. Should be good once done.

Then it will most likely be finishing off the stuff already fitted and then fitting 5 studs, brembo's and 18 inch s8 alloys like whats in the picture above.

got everything apart from a set of braided hoses and rear discs/bearings so not much.

whats next for your project?

Well I felt up to messing with the car for a bit today so it now has a boost gauge fitted (into a seriously bodged vent pod made from the old plastic vent section)

couple of things that are a bit annoying being that the needle does not go and sit back at 0 when its switched off.

when running at idle the needle flickers at about -0.1 vac and seriously shakes, when going along at full power at most I get between 0.8 and 0.9 positive which is close to the 1 bar which iirc jas got from sooty.

I know the vac pipes need changing which i've got to sort out over the next week or so.

I want to have a proper look at the gauge and see why its not returning to center and if it can be adjusted.

The car still pulls fine and gets the following results from my limited driving since fitting it (due to being a pain getting in/out the car and I can't even sneeze without it hurting)

1st gear - 0.8 bar
2nd gear - 0.9 bar
3rd gear - 0.85 bar
4th gear - 0.8 bar (from what I remember)
5th gear - 0.8 bar (from what I remember)

should be better once i've changed them vac pipes as i've been speaking to a few people that have modded these engines and know that there is more power to be made.

I want to order another egr blank off plate as this can be modded to go on the other end of the egr as it can still leak boost if not fully sealed off. Then I need to get the inlet manifold off and give it a good clean out.

Where have you connected the boost gauge hose to the pipeline?

These gauges sometimes flicking around if there is no "tight" gap in their hose. It should have a T-member which grows narrow. If you don't use the T-member you might get the flicking. You could cut the T-member and just drop in somewhere in the system the straight part of it.

Sorry for the loose english of mine... I hope i could helped.

btw I am getting more yellow by every other post. This project rocks! Very Happy A really good idea whith the black lights!!!!

thanks for your post, i'll have to check that. I fitted it in the same was as jas did on his sooty project. Only difference was I used a different hole to put the pipe thru which went straight into the cabin behind the speedo unit.

I've ordered a HID kit which should be hear soon then i'll finish off the lights, i've just been enjoying having a car to drive which unlike my s2 I don't have to worry about running out of fuel and something expensive going wrong.

Spent a couple of hours with anton (another member on here with a tdi avant) fitting electric windows all round.

The wiring was not too bad as he's done it quite a few times on the car, and i'd swapped over a couple of the cartridges. I had a complete set from a saloon at my local breakers.

The rear doors I found would left a gap of an inch or two at the top so in the end I just swapped the motor over into the other cartridge. I did this on all four windows and once they was wired up all but one worked fine, the passenger side rear does not work so i've got to check the motor has power and that its definately gone, if so i'll grab one from the breakers when i'm well enough to go down there.

Got the drivers side rear door card finished and whilst I was there I thought i'd fit a set of rs2 door triggers (they are black instead of the usual chrome) as i'd picked them up a while ago, the drivers card was fitted but we ran out of time to do the passenger side door cards.

I will have a go over the next week or so at fitting them as I doubt i'll be driving the car much then i'll have to have a clear out of all the spare bits i've got lying around Laughing

Cheers for that, glad its getting some approval Very Happy

went last night and picked up a set of s8 alloys (early style) for on this, just gotta get the correct sized tyres for them.

Also whilst I was collecting these the person I was collecting them from mentioned he had a set of front/rear braided hoses that he was not using so i've borrowed them to see if they will fit the brembo's when I pick them up and if so i'll have them and get them fitted.

I also had another result - RS2 recaro's £150 with looms Laughing

gotta pick them up sometime this week, they are currently afaik platinum or possibly beige leather, i'm not sure what they are yet just know they are rs2 recaro's. So will be getting them re-trimmed back to cloth to match the other seats.

I also managed to get Hid's fitted to the car which was not too bad, gonna check the wiring to the drivers light as sometimes when you switch it on that light fails to kick in so if you switch off then back on it starts up fine.

I need to check the wiring behind the stalk as if I put the mains on the dipped goes out so looks like I need to move the wire over to keep them switched on. Not a problem atm as i've just not used the main beam Laughing

Yeah sonics old one's just wanted something a bit better for on this one and he mentioned he still had them.

where was the other set of recaro's?

Hopefully going down on tues to pick up the seats so will see then, hoping that they have the heated seat loom as well as i'll nab that to go with them if not i've got a spare loom and elements so when they are trimmed i'll add them in.

Yeah i'll give you a shout about the discs, not sure yet what condition they are in but will let you know when I go to get them and i'll also find out them rs2 brackets if your still interested for the mirrors?

Lol, I have leather rs2 recaro's in the s2 coupe and tbh I hate them my old recaro's might have been leather but you sat in them deeper etc and I just liked them more than the rs2 ones. Problem is I sold them to a mate.

These one's I think i'd like more in cloth and they are cheap so I might as well give them a punt, if not they will be in the for sale section Laughing

Plus the rest of the interior is mint with carbon etc.

I need to do a bush on the rear beam, i'm gonna check and see if a v6 one will fit it as I have access to a few of these that I can get one and swap all the bushes off the car before I fit it.

Well managed to get a new alternator from gsf, ended up after them getting my old unit and adding vat £132.25

Crying or Very sad

still with a jump it started first time, dash lights all went out (tho the abs was a couple of secs) so the car goes fine then, now for more mods.

I've hopefully agreed on everything for the rear of a quattro conversion for this so i'll get that and store it till I get a chance to have a go with it.
