i aint got a clue, thought maybe dash, transmission tunnel etc would be same, and would just be carpetting/seating etc that may be different (although hopefully not the good condition drivers seat if its got one lol) |

thought i'd go tackle some of the jobs i've been meaning to do so went to the car yesterday (had been sitting for a couple of weeks untouched) and NOTHING, not a jot, not even a light flicker on the dash! at least last time this happened there was a bit of life in it
not being too techy, could this be related to the alternator which hasn't been working 100%?? i assume if the alternator's not been charging the battery it's been getting lower and lower? although in saying this the last few times i've been out in it it's been starting great. and i'm sure there's been no light(s) left on as i've been checking this religiously since previous.
any ideas? oh and any ideas on why that warning lights coming on permanently? could it be a dash issue?
cheers lads |

If it's the dash/ lower dash, think they'd be almost the same? (I know the Coupe has that recess for the inlay on the passenger side) |
Was thinking more of doorcards, carpets, etc. |

well i'm slowly but surely getting what's needed to get things the way i want with my coupe.. .. ..
picked up a second blue coupe interior yesterday, thanks to wildoliver, cheers olly.
it looks like a perfect match to what i've got now. so hopefully i can sort out 1 great interior from the 2 i've got!! i'll shove up some pics later once i've taken it out the car. couldn't be bothered doing it last night after a 600mile round trip on mostly A roads which just reminded me how uncomfy my allroad can be on a long trip, i just can't seem to get the seat right! |

bugger me i hadn't realised it'd been so long since i updated things on the coupe front!!
anyways, not much has changed to be honest, still got an issue of the battery losing charge. gonna have to get someone else to look at that as the bloke i had look at it before seemed a bit inept!
had a leak spring in october/november just before i locked her up in the garage for the winter, put it down to rain and clogged drains. went up to her the other week, threw in a charged battery and realised i didn't have my keys with me (can't bloody find them now!) and also found that there was a ' new' puddle in the drivers footwell had a look and the waters low in the car so i'm thinking maybe heater matrix?
gonna go do a search anyway and see how best to strip it out and dry it off and replace!
anyone know, could the dodgy heater matrix be what was causing the loss of charge to the battery? where's best for me to pic up a new or good 2nd hand one? can someone with very little mechanical know how easily fit it?!
other than this everythings fine. trying to find myself a new storage spot for the car preferrably with a bit more space so i can do all my tinkering there. i wanna have her back up and running as she should be sometime in march hopefully, then all that'll be needed will be new wheels and a paint job |

heater matrix- may as well buy new; they're about £35. Allow UPTO 2 days; you should be able to do within a day; depending upon how wet the carpets and noise reduction stuff is under the carpets.
There's several threads on how to remove the dash (it IS a dash out job)- any other little "jobs" that need doing (changing illumination bulbs, etc.) is probably worth doing at the same time. A Haynes _may_ help; take photos as you go so you can remember what went where; not too difficult to do, some bits are a tad "fiddly".
If you've got a sunroof, check the drains are clear with strimmer wire; I've had a faulty matrix before; we changed it and then I started getting leaks again- this was down to the scuttle tray cover not being properly fitted (by me ) and allowed water to get in when it was parked facing downhill..... |

well my coupes been in her new home for a few weeks now (got a 'loan' of a garage from my uncle, by the seaside in carnoustie)
was a cracking day today so i went and thought i'd get to wi some 'diagnostics' on the electrics, after mikes tip above i got this
hooked it up and worked a treat. so most of the fuses were ok, tested 0amp, but 2 of them number 12 (intrsument cluster) and think it was 15 (rear wiper) had 'issues' 12 was 1.38a, 15 was -0.03a.
so the fuse 12 i replaced as it looked like an original and i couldn't see if there was an issue with it and for a short while, my temp gauge worked (which it hasn't really done since i got it lol) and 15 was really fooked all twisted etc when i pulled it out so replaced that too, doesn't seem to make the rear wipe work any better (still stutters) have new wiper motor to replace it.
so that was enough for me and i wanted to go for a drive. and since buggering about wi the fuses, my temp warning lights staying on permanent again
so hopin its a good day tomorrow and i'll get another look at things (although the forecast's rain!) |

Might be worth taking the cluster out and cleaning the PCB. Fiddly job but not difficult. I've had to do this on the S2 and also on this 80 before I could get everything working properly. |

so here we are again, another quick update on whats been going on.
headlining and trim was removed to give access to the underside of roof to hopefully get some roof dents taken out, sadly the entire cage for the leccy sunroof is rivetted solid to the roof so can't access to remove the dents.
some other minor dents have been removed in prep for a respray at some point
a new set of 15" alloys were bought (cheers nathan) intended to be a winter set and i'll decide what i'm doing for everyday wheels.
refitted the headlining yesterday that was a right barsteward of a job to do on your own, but some spray adhesive worked wonders (just remember to spray to the metal and not the actual foam/lining)
trim going back in is a bit of a pain, think i need to take some more bits out to get these back in properly.
drivers seat to be replaced hopefully today along with the trim put back in place so the car will at least look half decent for errol next week.
further updates and maybe some pics to follow.... |
