Hi all a little while ago I was asking whether to go for the 2.0 16v coupe or the 2.6 v6. Well I decided that you only live once and went for the v6!

Missed out on one car drove all the way to Dartford to look at one only to discover the guy had sold it 2 hours before i arrived (cheers Rolling Eyes )

Then spied this one on ebay bidded and £1250 later this was mine:

Looks nice dosen't it? needs a fair bit of tidying but I reckon for the money it's pretty damn good! It drives really nice and that v6 rumble is a awesome noise made better by the powerflow exaust (that's saved me some money!)

Took it round to my mates house tonight. (that's his house in the pics and his Corrado!) and he took it on an extensive test drive gave it a clean bill of health and only commented on the clutch slipping ever so slightly on a "launch" but I reckon as long as i'm not drag racing on a daily basis it'll last a good while yet!

plans are to give it a good service (came with very little history however oil is clean and cambelt was done 20,000 miles ago according to a label on the engine) get a bodyshop to tidy the exterior, bits and bobs like clear lenses etc remove interior give a good clean and refurbish leather. And enjoy it!

I've filled my Audi owners club membership form out and will send it off shortly. But i've also seen "Club Audi" mentioned in audi driver are AOC and club audi the same thing or is it like the peoples front of judea and the judean peoples front (splitters!)?

looks a pretty clean example. been a lot of 2.6 FWD cars kicking about lately, in a good way this is yet another good looking one!

Have you got any specific plans for the car?

Audi Owners Club (AOC) audifans is the forum basis for the club. Club Audi are name reversed a different bunch. I frequent a few car sites but Club Audi i dont even know if they have a forum, pass... I would almsot certainly say that this site probably has the highest amount of posters of B3-4 cars, plenty form other era's but a hell of a lot of knowledge contained wihtin. I am currently writing an article (cue cheer from cq20v) on my 90 quattro 20v sport restoration, without the club this car would have never survived and was destined to be scrapped. Moreso the amount of money i have and am saving is enormous!

Thanks that clears up confusion then! I'll join the AOC then!

Not got anything major planned just tidy up and look after really. Maybe get some aftermarket suspension to sharpen up the handling and some nice rims (quite fancy Borbet A's!)

Hope to take it to some events too. Smile

Right here's my growing job list:

steering wheel not straight (searching faqs for "how to remove airbag without removing face!)

remove, and refurbish leather interior including carpets.

replace passenger door seal (slight leak and wind noise at speed)

replace boot lid seal (looks dodgy)

go and see bodyshop re: scuffs on front bumber, paint peel on rear bumber and dent in passenger door.

Replace resistor pack on hear (only works on number 3)

re-gas air con

have windscreen replaced (insurance should pay for that)

service and cambelt.

re-seal rear light clusters

source owners manual and o/s lower grill.

that's it for now. Going to Nurburgring in a few weeks so i'm saving, essential purchases only for now! Laughing so this will wait untill I come back.

for the windscreen, unless it's cracked or badly chipped, I'd leave well alone.

It's notoriously difficult on the Coupe and often results in damage to the trims and the bodywork

Just finished the suspension.

another project thread and another refurbed strut Wink

Went surprisingly trouble free only minor set back was the offside driveshaft popping out of the CV joint and refusing to go back in Embarassed

I brought some Speedline wheels off ebay for the bargin price of £30 for 4 and had them refurbed. Then a nice man from etyres.co.uk came and wrapped them in Gooyear Excellence tyres so now it looks like this:

Handles so much better now even before i've had it four wheel alinged! Bit of bodywork next I think Smile
