Hi just thought I would talk about my new cabriolet project.

After selling my mk2 16v Sad i was left at a bit of a loose end as to what car to have next.
Ive had so many mk2s now i thought I would have a change was thinking possibly a corrado, but one night browsing ebay I came accross
a Audi cabriolet for £1100 which required a bit of work, I jumped at the oppurtunity and a week later I was the owner,

Heres my old mk2

And heres my cabriolet

what you cant see from the picture is the roof is covered in green algae and the alloys are badly corroded.

My first step was to clean the roof, I used autoglym roof cleaner and the effects were very good after 6 hours of cleaning.
sorry no pics.

The front shocks were nackerd so I replaced with bilstein inserts, Heres a few pics.

The vag slotted tool used to release the spring

And the shock with the new insert.

This was quite an easy task due to me aquiring an impact wrench, so i didnt have to fiddle around with loads of VAG tools.

Currently Ive just purchased an fully sequential LPG kit, will post pics when it arrives, however I wont be able to fit it until the spring, due to
being at uni and away from my brothers workshop.

Im also in the process of painting the outside of the grille,

And painting some late style cabriolet alloys in black

Will post more pics when their on the car,

I was also thinking about tinting the rear lights with film from
http://www.lamin-x.co.uk

And am awaiting the arrival of clear indicators

Let me know what you think Smile

One of the reasons i brought the car was the colour. Smile as it stands I think the cars a bit too high, can anyone recommend a company of springs, for a 40mm drop.

The club can get ones from PI & SPAX, plus there's loads of others available. I could be wrong, BUT I think the suspension is the same as the Coupe, if memory serves.

cheers for the reply will probably get lowering springs in a month or so due to spending all my money on an lpg kit.

hers some pics of the backend of the kit which arrived today Smile

And heres a pic of one of the finished wheel, the photos dont do it justice they came out really well, 2 down two to go having problems due to being at uni and away from a workshop so currently have the car at the side of the road on the spacesaver whilst im spraying each wheel individually.

also think i need some tyre paint. Smile
