think i bit of background is needed, had the car about 5 years now its a audi 90 20v tornado red,
spec
aux gauges
fuel comp retro fit by myself
sports front seats
zorst is stainless made by a company in shipley called zorstec
i have polished the maf and throttle body.
i was clocking up about 5-6k per month in it and oil change every payday wasnt the best way to spend my money thats when we got the tdi(sue)well the tdi avant is long dead, since i have worked close to home i havent touched the 90 at all only 300 miles since last mot. now its time to get the 20v back on the road.
it hasnt been touched in 9months at all its sat on the drive, ok ok i know i should have used it but i didnt.
the volvo 740 we have been using cost nothing as uncle gave it to me after aunty passed away.
at this point we also have a dog black lab year old now so avant is in order but for now the 20v needs to be running, the car hasnt cost much in the 5 or so years we have had it cam belt change rear calipers and thats it,so its been painless motoring.
now the paintwork is pink, rear calipers dead, cambelt needs doing powersteering had normal stuff in it not audi p/s fluid so its killed it.
so all in all its going to be a fun ride to get her back on the road, as some will know its a bit of a noisey beast.and it needs to be deafening people again Very Happy Very Happy .
i have started putting my pics on photobucket this will get updated as and when thinks are done, also by the looks of it the radiator needs replacing too.and my tyres are slicks Laughing so roll on the road to revive.

nice throttle body work did you do that yourself?
Yoiu might alreadyknow, but my brother helped me wit a stuck bolt a few months ago with an impact driver, i did say i got to get me one of those, then i found out what they cost...

MORE PICS DONE
ya ive done the throttle body and maf my self could do with a bit more off it Smile
need to refine it a little so if anyone has a spare throttle and maf i can borrow it would be great.
well the belt is off and tmorro its water pump time, now this is where it gets scary i put the locking tool on (same as used on the 10v no difference) and 3 extension bars and pop off it came not much force needed at all not 350nm id say 35 lol lol.
i had to take the pulley off with the cam belt pulley as one of the allen bolts was round, not to worry.
hard bit now is getting the rear cover off due to a threaded pin that the front cover goes on is long and looks like the camshaft pulley needs to be removed.... i dont think so some how, do i really need the rear cover surely as long as the front is on and bottom one it should be ok.
*NOTE* dont by the marks on the pulleys for tdc as they are miles out well few deg`s,i took out No1 plug and put in a thin kabab skewer to get tdc.
now make sure u dont move the car at all just incase.
to get to everything you will need to remove the cross member this gives you more room on the front of the engine.
looking at the block its the same as the one in the quattro coupe passat and the like i always thought they were different.
anyway all i need to do is put it all back right.
more tomoro

1st off can i say a big thanks to jim round the corner from me, he has let me use some of his tools and bits, couldnt have get it this far without his help.
finally got the cambelt pulley off the p/s pulley.if the allen bolts round off all i did was hammer a larger allen key into it put the lock tool on and undo the bolt job done this should only be done off the car.
they all look the same number on this is 34a.dont know what the number is for well teeth but the letter dont know.
the platecover on the back of the cambelt is a pain in the a$$ as you have to bend it slightly to get the water pump off, once all off its a case of put it back hmm easy said than done lol lol
in the meantime i am painting parts that i take off eg mounts covers etc so for later its on with the roller and belt then off with the red as its buggered.

Right project update I finally have my injector seals, now the main seal that it on the inlet manifold should they be a tight fit or easy to put in. Main reason u ask is that they are easy to put the injectors into the manifold so I take it it's not much of a seal as a rubber support for them.

If you undo the cam bolt while the crank is locked, you can remove the cam pulley (don't lose the woodruff key).

The rear cam cover then comes off easily. Far easier than attempting to bend it out the way to extract the water pump.

Just out of interest, how far out are your timing marks.

Mine were all spot on when I did this job last week.

Right the cam belt is on and tight well to 350nm so I thought I'd remove the radiator ready to get another easy done. Then thought hmm breather hose on the back of the block god wot a nightmare it was blocked with a bung of wire and c**p and was only half a pipe so spent a hour getting that out now I have that to replace ffs what next it's becoming a nightmare. Did on the otherhand get all new switches and the big on a temp display for the dash so all is not lost, and yes jas it's a temp one not a auto display like the last I picked up. Wink I also made a boo boo and got the wrong steering wheel too I got one off a a4 which has a different mounting for it so that's now for sale Sad unless anyone wants to swop and has a b3/4 fitting one. Right let's see now if audi have the pipe in, what's the bets it's nla....

Jas managed to fit the airbag version to a non airbag sooty, I think.

You'll need to change the collars or something- take a look at the sooty thread.

Well it's update time, I have got the radiator out and the breather pipe at the back of the engine is dead so I've ordered one, don't know how long it's gonna take to get to me... Bloody audi.
So all the injectors are back on plugs are cleaned and I thought sod it let's start her up ok yea I know I don't have any water in or a radiator on but I did it anyway and SHE STARTED 1st turn of the key after being sat for a year not touched. Next thing I sort out a radiator and then flush the oil as it was very tappety and 1bar on oil gauge, so looks lik it all gunky. So now I can do 5pot cambelts easy lol lol

update.
well after a trip to phils to get a radiator and i even found my old aux in the back of my old avant its coming on nice. i have the front end sort of back and car washed as it hasnt had one for a year, here is the gallery
http://s765.photobucket.com/albums/xx297/sausagedog77/audi%202010/

this is a ongoing project so the front bumper is on just for mot and will be done in correct colour later,
wheels will be 10 spoke audi alloys when i get chance to swop them and other bits to be done.
all i am waiting for now it the beather pipe from audi as its a modifyed part.once this is here then the rad`s will be on and warm her up. then drop the oil and make sure everything is right.

Here's a odd one. Now when I try and start it the car starts then shuts down after 5secs or so. Is this due to not having any water in it or rad and the ecu knows and shuts it down.
