Oil Filter Housing Seal

Noticed my 95 2.8 A6 has an oil leak from where the oil filter housing/oil/water cooler fits onto the side of the sump, I'm told its a common fault and is simple enough to fix, I've bought the new seal and understand there is a large nut accessable once the oil filter is removed, question is does anyone know what socket size the nut is? Dont want to get into the job to find I dont have a large enough socket and have to re-fit the filter and go shopping ! Thanks for any help. Very Happy

It will likely be a 24 or 27mm required. It varies between different cars

Thanks for that, most of the leak turned out to be the oil pressure switch but it does have a weep from the oil filter housing, thought I had cured it after replacing the switch as engine was totally dry for the whole day after doing a good few miles, seems it only leaks from the filter housing when cold (maybe because oil pressure higher ?). will have to find a couple of hours to replace the O ring, was hoping to do it without draining cooling system but it looks a bit tight with the hoses.
