Well just back from Leeds after buying MadS2 3b Coupe off S2forum

http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40652

HAve a few issue's to deal with but nothing to serious I hope just time consuming

No spark ..off the top of my head hall sender issue, timing , crank sensor or flywheel pin..vag.com to help here

Clean up rear of engine bay ..very cluttered with wires and addition ad ons which might be causing running issues

Wiring been tapered with ..so going to have a go over all of it to ensure no battery drain or bad earths ..screwed fuse plate so on

Interior and finishing...door cards need rebuilt with electric windows not working (relay /wiring), seats need remounted , sunroof interior cover needing fitted ...

Inside out needs a good clean and put back together (trim) and polish

Loads more niggly jobs but the above list are the main ones

Bonnet cable needing looked at

Oh and got the reg as well which I really wanted ( E5 TOO)

Pictures to follow

Yes good base for a start....Pictures were not what is was actually like..has been sitting in a yard with cover over it for about 4months loads of dust and stoor everywhere ...needs a good bit of TLC ....Plan is get it started that will be done today , windows sorted and door cards done ..will need power washer to get the grime off body work then start from front to back cleaning up imperfections and sorting out niggles...all road legal as MOT'd till June 10 and taxed so hopefully going for a spin in today Very Happy...oh and thought I'd better go for change from red to dolphin grey with black Laughing

Well I have jinxed myself it seems... I have reset the timing on the Coupe as this was out, connected all the wires that were not plugged in for some reason!...But still not spark

Only had a short amount of time so did a few quick checks ..The fuse plate seems to be out of a non S2 and relay's are very different !..the fuse holder for 27 is constent live and blowing everything that goes near it so no fuse there ..but swapped over the ECU and was able to stick in fuse without blowing ?...but still no spark ...

Not happy with fuse plate as not in good condition so going to swap that over tomorrow and see if that is to blame ...bonnet cableg rommet has been removed to fit boost gauage pipe so might be looking water damage to wiring ??

What does fuse 27 do in 3B? on the cover it says control box and the S2 one it is engine timing I

Cheers

Steve

Cheers Mike ...So this wont stop it spark though ..mmmmm thinking I am going to have a long day tomorrow at this ...another thing the electric windows are not working either so maybe starting to all link into one electrical issue causing multitude of problems ...Oh I just love fixing electrical problems Rolling Eyes

CAR IS UP AND RUNNING ...ECU was screwed, Immobilizer relay was shot and wiring from fuse plate to ECU( live feed ) had been butcher under dash for aftermarket IMMO and a total mess ...all fixed and going like sh@t of a shuffle...needs new lifters as the car has been run with a 50/50 petrol/oil mix by the looks of it ..changed over oil and it was constitency of milk !!

Jobs to do on engine still:
Lifters
Fit proper breather system for oil as has catch can but messy fitted
Fit standard Airbox as bit to wooshie for me with induction filter

Yeah, that'll work. I use megs last touch, but only cos I've got a gallon container of it.
Have used watered down car shampoo too. Key is not letting the clay get too dry, it baulks a bit then.

Big Update for this

Well after having the car running for a long time I could tell there was trouble a mist ...the fumes out the back of the exhaust would choke you

So yet again another S2 of mine with the engine out

With the engine out I replaced the clutch as this was not right ..you can see the shaft is rusted up ..bearing was sticking

Ended up stripping the engine to find the last owner must of torqued the head with a 1/4 " ratchet ..all the head bolts were nowhere near torque settings..which explain poor running , had another head built up so swapped over , cleaned up some wiring , changed over MFTS plug as it was goosed , changed over FPR and replaced all compression washers , new water pump and belt while I was doing this ,changed over turbo ..my spare part bin has been well and trully raided !!

I took the roof lining out and the sunroof unit and replaced it , with new drain pipes, stuck back the roof lining all dried out ..it never coming off carpet glue spray ..that was PITA

Got the engine back in and all running with a few stubbling blocks ..still have a boost issue but still to do pressure test on boost pipes, have output test all the rest and good so looking at a dodgey pipe or IC i think

The handling was a bit scary this was due to screwed front shockie changed this over and a bit better but think the drivers rear is goosed to so that will be getting changed in the next few days

End up G3'ing the body work to rid of over spray ..bloody hard work ..not 100% but not bad

Had a go at the interior tonight and shampoo'd carpet and treated leather
